Main Purpose of the Job
The Systems Accountant will work with internal teams and third-party specialists to develop a robust data strategy for Charis so that the business can develop its reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of data analysis and management.
Main Responsibilities
- Working with external and internal teams to develop a robust data strategy so that we have definitive, reliable and accurate data for reporting purposes
- The capability to quickly audit and understand the various sources of data within the Charis business, both internal and external, how it is used and where it is stored
- The ability to translate the reporting and information requirements of stakeholders within the business and understand what underlying data is needed, highlighting any gaps or concerns
- Evaluation and understanding of data governance and security
- Working with a third-party data consultancy to develop a Data Warehouse solution that uses appropriate technology and is flexible enough to meet Charis’ current and future reporting requirements
- Documenting data flows and processes
- Develop foundations for daily, weekly and monthly reporting for the business, for both financial and non-financial data, connecting the Data Warehouse to reporting tools such as Power BI
- Reviewing and monitoring business KPIs to understand business performance
- Develop margin and revenue analysis by sector, product and supplier to support commercial decision making
- Build operational reporting for energy schemes, to manage internal resourcing, fund management and performance
- Review external reporting for clients and regulatory bodies to ensure that it is fit for purpose and genuinely adds value
Knowledge, Experience and Competencies
- Pro-active, results-driven individual with high levels of energy, flexibility, and commitment to deliver the business and functional objectives at pace and to meet deadlines
- Demonstrable ability to multi-task to deliver according to identified business priorities
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and a track record of embracing change and innovating to improve processes and ways of working
- Sound understanding of the financial flows in a business
- Demonstrable ability to learn new technology for the benefit of the business
- An effective communicator with excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Well-developed Microsoft Office skills, with advanced excel skills
- Demonstrable attention to detail
- Extensive experience of cloud-based accounting software, preferably Business Central
- Proven experience of using Power BI or similar reporting software to build reports from scratch is essential.
