Business Development Manager

Location Peterborough

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 + incentive scheme (depending on experience)

Reports To: Commercial Director

 

Main Purpose of the Job

To target and make contact with new partner organisations, and grow relationships within existing partners; to introduce, promote and sell the various Charis services increasing year on year revenue and deliver margin improvement where possible.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver business growth, making sales from customers in various sectors – Housing Associations, Citizens Advice, Local Authorities – and other charitable organisations, and provide analysis on performance throughout the year.
  • Represent Charis at key industry events, seminars, webinars etc.
  • Identify decision makers and build and develop key relationships with stakeholders and buyers in target sectors.
  • Work with the Management Team and specifically Finance and Operations to develop business cases for new opportunities and any associated product development.
  • Engage with Finance, Operations and IT to ensure teams are briefed and aligned on requirements.
  • Review commercial terms for services offered and delivered.
  • Produce accurate reporting and analysis of customer performance for internal and external use.
  • Work with marketing colleagues to promote the Shop platform.
  • Ensure Hubspot (CRM) is kept up to date with accurate recording of opportunity pipeline and customer interactions (emails / calls / meetings).

 

Knowledge, Experience and Competencies

  • Business Development and/or Relationship Management experience. Must be experienced in presenting to potential customers and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Experience of selling into the Housing Associations and Local Authority sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience of using a CRM system (Salesforce / Hubspot) desirable but not essential.
  • Good IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to write accurate, well-structured content in plain English tailored to the target audience.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly commercial and numerate.
